Administrators created Boulder Creek's color guard as a part of the the band program when it was founded in 2004.

Simply put, guard people are dancers that use flags, rifles, and sabres. They tell the story of the music the marching band plays without uttering a sound, and from there, set the mood and attitude of the program.  The kids perform alongside the marching band, weaving in and out of the forms to create striking visuals. We are the most visually captivating part of the program, on and off the field and hold a high standard in the representation of ourselves as the reflection of our band, our team, and our school.

Auditions occur for the following school year in late April or early May. Nothing is required but an energetic, willing-to-try attitude. We begin by teaching the basics of movement, flag work, and for those interested, weapon work.

Going into high school can be scary. Joining the guard and band program the summer before means walking through the gates of the high school already knowing a couple hundred students!

Boulder Creek's winter guard was formed in 2013 under band director,  James O'Halloran and guard captionhead, Lexi Fimbres-Krznarich. The winter guard brings the same intention, to act out the music and create a visual equal to the reverb of thevmusic, but this time to a recorded track, rather than a live marching band.

The Boulder Creek winter guard celebrated its inaugural year with a show entitled "Human". The second year brought a show entitled "Silver Lining". This show earned the guard's first 1st place trophy during the 2014-2015 winter season.

The guard program is constantly expanding. The staff are working to bring more skills, as well as more real-life and educational knowledge to the program to help students become well-rounded on and off of the performance floor.
